i have FRITZ!Box Fon ata 1020, Firmware Version 11.04.01. and for almost year have been using blueface for Irish geo numbers. every month or so fritzbox says

Status Internet Number 003531*******: Not registered

    settings:
    Internet number - 003531524****
    User name - arconica
    Password - *****
    Password confirmation - *****
    Registrar - sip.blueface.ie
    Proxy server - sip.blueface.ie
    STUN Server - stun.fwdnet.net (others servers/blank - no difference)
Use Internet number for registration (ticked/empty - no difference)

blueface support is useless - they say every time to restart computer!!!! or everything is ok on our side! after a day or twe fritzbox connects.
it is very frustrating for me.
    my questions are:
    - had anyone experience similar problem and found the way to resolve it?
    - can you change geo number from voip to voip provider?

When your FRITZ!Box fails to register, have you ever tried connecting to Blueface using a Softphone?

Are you running the latest firmware on your box?

Did you post on blueface's forum - http://forums.blueface.ie - to see if anyone there has any advice?

yes i'm running latest firmware and i dont want softfone. blueface is the only provider that fritzbox drops registration with now and than. i spent more money on my mobile calls to their useless support than i would if had landline with eircom. i'm defo moving to different provider. any suggestions pls as i have to move my geo numbers?

I was considering moving to them - am I heading the wrong way??
Same as you, I want a hardware phone, no interest really in softphone.

most of the time i cant complain at all but this thing happens every month. i cant listen to ' try to restart your computer' anymore while still paying mobile - landlines rates for 15 minutes as sb puts me on hold and goes to colleague to ask. maybe if you have hardware they selling it will be 100%.
who you want to move from and why so i don't get into worst ether? i was thinking about freespeach now.

Well at the very least set up a softphone to ring support on 3000 or 3010...Save ya a few bob.. plus you'd see that if it works the problem is most likely your equipment..

thats what support people are saying. fritzbox decides to not connect for 2-3 days every month? we email you back when technician menager is back! it registers with 3 other providers but not with redface!

    I'm with Freespeech - whom I find good & flexible w.r.t registrations.
However, they can't port numbers & have recently announced they will be discontinuing inbound access to 076 numbers from the PSTN. Also, users may now have to pay for 076 to 076 calls (unless the number is on Freespeech or the end users' provider peers with Freespeech.

This is a bit rich, really, as you sort of expect an 076 number to be universally reachable (same as any other Irish 0xx number is) from the PSTN & to be free, since there should not be any reason to use the PSTN*. However, times being what they are & costs going up, etc & they say it's not popular, so it's ending. You can still call any SIP 076 number for free if you enter it as a URL (I guess), however, some phones can't dial URL's (POTS phones can't).

Anyway, I was looking to get a good provider who can port numbers & who has reasonable call costs, guess I'd better keep looking.

    * Peering via the PSTN is a good way to ensure call quality is maintained, but it probably costs €€. Guess providers have to pay for BW from the PSTN. Routing over the internet should be really cheap (almost free - since the media path is via the users ISP - not the SIP providers network), but this can result in variable call quality.

    Hi

We use a company called Clarity Telecom

    JmcSoft (IRL) are their resellers

They will give a free 01 number no monthly charge, great rates and you just pay monthly for the calls you make. They can also handle your pstn line all into one monthly bill if you want.

    Jason
