im using a 223 to 200 to 300 yards using american eagle 55 gr boat tails.

Some rifles like the Remingtons have a fairly slow twist rate and lighter ammo around 55 gr shoots pretty well from them
    but AFAIK ... the T3 in .223 has a twist rate of 1 in 9 .

Heavier and somewhat more expensive ammo will help to get the best out of it .

Remington accutips or I think Lapua do a 63gr round and you might try the Hornady 75gr they work extremely well for target shooting.

A box of each and a calm day should provide the answers. :)

Yeah thats the plan but I haven't been able to find 75gr stuff only 63gr.

Yeah I know some places (James McBride) are carrying Hornady TAP ammo which is 75 grain hollow point boat tail stuff.

What price are folks paying for their target .223 ammo?

Cheap American Eagle 55gr FMJ BT is €10 a box.

I saw something about the Hornady TAP ammo which said it was great for taget alright (although to sold as "For Home Defence"!)

Where are you getting it for 10 euro a box, I'm paying like 13.

Yeah the box for the TAP stuff is a bit non PC alright but it is good ammo. Pricey though I think I paid 33 quid for a box of it :(

He's currently investigating a couple of prices for me, and was very patient and understanding while I tried to explain what I'm looking for, seems like a thoroughly decent chap. Good to hear his prices are solid too. :)

you dont have to buy Hornady Tap to get 75gr 223..

Hornady Match is 75 gr too and cheaper i think , it has the match bullet , Tap has the Amax .

using american eagle 55g hp out to 450yds,hornady 75g match to 600yds so far, they are the best but u have to pay for the best, over 30 euros a box, have tried a few different brands and found these two do everything

Aint that the truth. Decently priced, regular supply of accurate ammo at your door step.

Really wish this would happen sooner rather than later (my brother just bought a .300 Win Mag and the thought of throwing out a piece of brass that size makes me sick)

Holy bejesus Vegeta, what model .300 Win mag did he get? That's gonna be rough on the shoulder, as well as the wallet. Any idea how much the factory ammo costs?

Surprisingly cheap actually. Its 38 euro for 20 rounds of 150 grain federal soft points. It aint the most accurate ammo but we'll work on that over the coming months

Its a remington action and barrel in an Accuracy International stock and weighs a fair amount. Recoil is funny on it. It pushes quite a bit but its not a brutal sharp snap. Due to the weight of the rifle and the excellent recoil pad on it (really soft and jelly like) the felt recoil is considerably less than his .270 sporter ever was. It is honestly more comfortable to shoot than the .22/250 I was trying to zero last week. Muzzle blast is HUGE though. Shooting it on dusty ground and safety glasses are a good idea. Also would not like to fire a light sporting/hunting model. KA BLAM seems appropriate here.

He is going to try and get permission for a mod now too which will make it heavier and reduce the recoil a bit more. Very shootable rifle after that I'd say. I will admit I get nervous every time he asks "Want a go?"

A decent drag style bag with school bag type straps is his requested xmas present. No surprises there.

Wow, that sounds savage Veg. Did he build it himself, or get it done professionally? Good luck getting approval for the can, I'm sure his neighbours at the range will appreciate it.
