    www.gak.co.uk or www.musicstore.de

I've used both, and found them great.

No bother, the fender would be grand if your only starting out.In my experience if you can play acoustic guitar well then your electric playing will be far easier.i play both electric&acoustic too.

I tried buying a guitar on Thomann recently but they told me they weren't getting it back in stock for a while. So I found the same guitar on Dolphin Music (http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/). I wasn't sure about whether or not to get a hard case with it so I emailed them asking about the guitar I was buying and what cases would fit it. They said they didn't have any cases in stock but guaranteed that it would be delivered safely. So I ordered the guitar, only for them to come back saying it wasn't in stock (could have told me this when I was emialing them about it) and that they wouldn't be getting it back into stock as it was discontinued.

Now, here's the clever part. They charged the credit-card once the order went through (i.e. not when dispatched)!!! So even though they didn't have it in stock, they still charged the credit card. Because it's an English site, the conversion rates were applied. When they (eventually) refunded the money, they paid back the exact GBP price, so again I lost out on the exchange rate, and finally the credit card charges applied too. So, for the privelage of ordering a giutar that was no longer in stock I'm down nearly €50. And all they said on the matter was that it's not their fault.

Total bummer! I'd try emailing them with pretty much what you wrote above but with exact details. If they have any class they could at least give you a credit note. You could discretely imply that if they don't make good you will spill it all in various on-line fora where their potential customers hang out. It might also be worth contacting the credit card company. And UK consumers rights organisation?

This is what I got back from them:
We have refunded the amount we received in GBP in full. As you paid via a European credit card, your card issuer will have charged you to place the order in GBP and issued their own exchange rate. When we refunded your order, your card issuer applied their own exchange rate and charges to the transaction.
Since these charges were made by your card issuer, we are unable to refund them.

We always charge on the placement of the order to ensure that we have business for the item that we are purchasing from the suppliers.

I told them that any reputable site would only charge once they dispatch the product and that I would smear their name wherever possible unless they rectify the situation. No reply yet! :)

    Not sounding good
Get back to them and say you actually tried to buy from them and they could not supply through no fault of yours and you end up out-of pocket at the end of the day

Try these guys http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/ At least they could let you know where you stand with legal options.
Use Skype Out or similar to phone them as you may be on hold for a long time

Soundslive are the best imo.Far cheaper than Thomann on a lot of the stuff i'm interested in.Items are usually at my house within 2 days.

GAK are cheaper again but you only find out an items availability after you put through your card details. That's happened to me three times with those guys.P1sses me off...
