Motor+batt getting really hot!

Twas firing my gun today, short bursts and shots in quick succession on semi. I had to stop 'cause the motor was getting really hot and I could feel through the stock that the battery and the wiring was also getting pretty hot. Is this normal? or a problem? and if so what can I do about it?

I'm no expert but I'd say it would be a good idea to change the batt. and to check all wiring , making sure that the plastic coating hasn't come off .
