Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will reopen old Tottenham wounds with a £15million January swoop for Spurs full back Gareth Bale.

The Wales defender, who has been on brilliant form this season, is seen by the Anfield hierarchy as a better alternative to Spaniard Fabio Aurelio.

Liverpool and Spurs fell out in spectacular fashion over the Reds' controversial courting of Robbie Keane.

The Republic of Ireland captain eventually made the switch to the north-west for £20m but only after Liverpool had made a contribution to Tottenham's charity by way of an apology.

Bale is also rated by former Wales manager and now Manchester City boss Mark Hughes as having the best left foot in football.

Spurs tried hard but failed to keep Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov at White Hart Lane, eventually selling him to Manchester United for £30.75million.

No one at White Hart Lane wants to lose Bale, 19, but Berbatov showed if a player wants to move and the money is right, a deal can be done.

Absolute crap. Like we'd sell him for a 5 million profit! Lazy journalism, and an utterly ridiculous story.

Look, even I can do it!! :pac:

Spurs to swoop for £30 million Torres

In an amazing twist on the top-4 hierarchy, cash-rich Spurs are hot on the trail of Liverpool ace Fernando Torres, viewing him as the perfect replacement for both Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov, one of whom left for Liverpool before the start of the current season for £20 million.

Spurs have money to burn after netting over £50 million from the sale of their two top strikers and with Torres known to be keen on a move to London, sees Spurs as an ideal destination to continue his amazing Premiership form. Ramos is known to be an admirer of the hitman and sees him as the perfect spearhead for his Spanish revolution.

A cheeky bid of around £30 million should be enough to test Rafa's resolve, though Spurs are thought to be willing to offer £15 million rated Welsh left-back Gareth Bale as a sweetener in any potential deal.
