Too serious

Im starting to really hate my personality as Im way too serious. I have recently moved into a house with three lovely girls who are really intresting, fun, nice people. None of us knew each other before we moved in but the three of them are always laughing and joking together. There really nice to me but I always feel I drag the mood down when Im in the room and the laughter sort of stops.
I wish I could be more lightherated like them but Im a really serious person,I like having deep conversations and I find It akward to talk about light and fluffy things. I try my best to make a few jokes but I come out with stupid things and then I feel even more akward.I try my best to talk about other stuff but Im not naturally witty, whereas the other three are always in hysterics.
I guess I just want to ask If you lived with someone like me would you hate it? Does anyone have any tips on how to be more lighthearted?Should I just embrace ,my perosnality for what it is and not worry do much?

I would definitely embrace your personality for what it is. As you saw when you tried to emulate the others it came out as forced and unnatural.

If they are nice girls (which they do sound) they will accept you. I mean just because they are lighthearted, it doesn't mean they have never met a person who is serious before.

I would just be yourself, you might find yourself mostly listening and laughing along, rather than actually making the jokes yourself, but what harm...?

Do you have hobbies and friends outside your shared house?

That way you can satisfy your need for deeper communication....

I love serious people. Like having a laugh myself but not every min of the day. OP you're just different from those three girls. Maybe not compatible living with them. And it certainly doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you.

They probably like having someone level headed there. And its not like you're snapping at them when they're laughing is it?

I don't like talking about fluffy things. I don't like gangs of hysterical girls on buses. I can't understand women blethering on and on about waxing or about GHD's. Or fancying Brad Pitt. Because I'm me and glad to be me. Embrace your personality because although you're different to these three girls but you'll have loads in common with loads of people.:)

We are who we are, embrace what you are, enjoy it,chill out just a little and I bet others will be drawn to you,

p.s the world has well enough fluffy folk.

    Hi Op

I am tempted to say welcome to my world, like you I am serious, a deep person and a deep thinker. I used to feel I was from planet zod and wondered if I would ever be able to relate to people, like you I can't do light and fluffy and yes I have put off a lot of men in the past, but I just cannot be any other way than me, so I learned to embrace myself and accept that I am serious, cannot tell a joke to save my life, take things too literally so miss out on parody or sarcasm, and when someone asks me do I like a programme, instead of just saying yes, I give a whole deconstruction on it and its implicit message. I learned that is who I am, however, I tried for years to be anyone but me, and I caused myself untold misery, I hope you don't make the same mistake. I am sure the girls you share a house with accept you as you are, and just to say the moment i embraced myself as I am, I did meet someone who loves my deep and serious side, so there is always someone out there who will like you. Finally I have a few friends who are lighter and fluffier than me but they also like my serious side, it is all a question of accepting who you are.

OP theres nothing more annoying than being around somone who is naturally serious but tries to be funny, it just comes across as weird. However, although Im someone who likes to have a laugh i enjoy spending time with serious people, but only if its only going to be an interesting good conversation, not them trying to be funny.
People are happy in all different types of conversations, whether they are having a laugh or having a serious conversation. Just dont fake it!!
