Hi can anyone reccommend a good course in cork for dressmaking? There's a few advertised in different places of various duration and price. I'm a raw beginner but I would like to have the option of maybe doing it commercially down the line. I'm looking for a course that incorporates making clothes from patterns as well as alterations etc.

Just thought maybe someone out there would have some experience in this and could reccommend a good course.
    thanks.

Hi, I did the course in Carrigaline Community School last year and found it very good. They will probably start a new course in September.

I also heard that the course in Douglas Community School was supposed to be good.

    Hope that helps!

Can't recommend anything personally, but I've been searching for myself. Here's what I've found...

There's a beginner course at the Ballincollig Community School
    www.bcsadulted.ie

And a dress-making course at Mallow College of Design and Tailoring. I asked about taking just the dressmaking class at night. From an email today:
"the dressmaking course is part of the first year fashion design course. What we hope to achieve is to make a skirt, blouse, pants and jacket and depending on your ability to do as amny difficult dressmaking techniques as possible."

They don't have a website, but if you contact cashmanmary@eircom.net, she can send you a scanned version of their entire programme.

    Good luck!
