Hey all. Was down in Kinsale the other day for when the sun popped it's head out. Beautiful day. Took a rake of photos in Charles Fort, Kinsale Town, Garrettstown beach etc while i was down there.

The full set is on my Flickr if anyone wants to see the originals and the rest of the set, but i just wanted to find out what people thought of the post processing i used. I think it works well, and when i look at these against the originals i think they are nicer.

Hopefully i could get some C+C if anyone wants to oblige.

Il throw the rest of my shots onto the Random Thread, but just wana know what people think of this type of processing, any technical or otherwise C+C, and if anyone is interested in looking at the shots on my flickr for additional C+C to help me along the learning curve.

    Cheers
    Kieran

Hi, great shots.I like the last three. Nice composition, high - but not to high- contrast, and...I don't know, they are just great for me - even with such a high contrast the details are not lost. I will make sure to check the rest on Flickr as soon as I can. Good job!

Nice shots and composistion but I say you have over done it a bit on the saturation of your green tones and some of the blues!
They just look way too fake for my liking...
    Nice shots though
(apologise if its just my screen :P )

agree with crazyhorse, your greens look over-saturated. Top notch composition though.

You have some beautiful shots on your flickr.

Greens over sats as the previous few said especially in #3 and quite a lot in 4, 5 and 6.
Besides that #2 and #4 would be my favs.

Thanks. All the processing i did was in lightroom 2.0, removing all clarity from the image and then increasing the contrast and blacks, and increasing the saturation of the blues and greens. The idea is to make them look kindof like paintings i guess. I know what ur saying about the oversaturation of the blues and greens, and maybe i did go a bit too far, but i was aiming for bright colours to give the impression of paint on canvas.

Looking at them again now, i do agree that #5 and #6 are a bit too green :P

    Thanks for the comments.

Smashing shots - a little to overcooked for me.

    This is way better than...

    This... imo.

Of course when you have so many good shots like you do, who wouldn't want to tinker a bit!

were they processed using the orton method?? I love the compostion but again find the processing a little overdone...I woudl have gone for a more subtle dreamy processing.

Never heard of the Orton method. Just looked it up there, and i guess they kindof are like the orton method, trying to get a dreamy type of look.

Il have to go back and make the colours a bit more muted.

Agreed! The beach ones work but not the others: the grassy ones give me a headache. Still not bad, whoever you are

These are way too overcooked and fake looking for me sorry!

The shots are good, particularly the last 2 or three, but the processing completely ruins them. It's way way over the top. They'd be good either with minimal processing (levels/sharpening/whatever) or maybe some vastly more subtle version of what you've done to them here.

Some beautiful shots. Ditto on the intensity of the greens though!
