To take you literally, it's pretty rare for me to see an actual big red button, let alone one that says "Do Not Press".

Metaphorically though, I know exactly what you mean. Best example for me was when I had my first naggin of whiskey. I had half of it with red lemonade, then thought "I wonder what it's like straight" and knocked back what was left. The result was my first and so-far only hangover, after having to crawl home for 2 hours what should have been a 30 minute walk.
(It should be noted that I started the night dehydrated, and tried to fix that by drinking lots of cider first!)

    Curse you curiosity!:D

Last time I pressed a big red butt I got a horde of baboons after me.
    Lesson learned.

Anyone ever see that episode of 'Derren Browns Trick Or Treat', where he puts a girl in a room with a big red button. The button is connected to a cage with a cute lil kitten inside, pressing the button electrocutes/kills the kitten. Derren tells her not to push the button, and that if she can go 5 minutes without killing the kitten she wins 500 quid.

She pushes the button at the last second. The poor girl was horrified. She was playing with the kitten right up until the last few seconds, then starts to cry and pushes the button. Of course it was all a setup and the kitten was fine.

Basically he was trying to prove the point that, the human mind finds it very hard to process negative commands. That we tend to focus on the command itself (ie - Push the button) rather than the 'Do Not' part.

    Very interesting stuff.

I'm a scientist, therefore naturally curious. These buttons are made for people like me :(

Even in hotel corridors if I see a panel in the wall that can obviously be lifted/opened, I open it. If there's a button, valve, switch...I usually press, turn of flick it...unless it's clearly marked. That's the funny thing, if there's no markings to say what it does or no obvious function to it, I'll give it a try to see what happens.
    :(

did it twice...once in dunnes in limerick....no flashy lights or noise, I just saw a guy there a few minutes later witha screw driver....

Once in "saturn" (huge electronics store in germany) in the speakers section, it flicked on the power or an input feed or something, and all the display speakers started blaring!...scared the crap outta me:o

I know what you mean. I just got out of hospital after ingesting silica gel. If they didnt want people to eat it they shouldnt put "DO NOT EAT!!!DO NOT EAT!!!DO NOT EAT" all over the pack...its just asking for trouble.

Also, I once pulled the tag of a mattress and i got Power AIDS as a result but I just needed to know what happened

I've always wondered why they bother putting 'Do Not Eat' on those packets. It's like ''Hmm, I've just found this little packet of something called silica gel in my new shoes...sounds yummy...oh, wait, I can't eat it...what a let-down!":pac:

You're a naughty scientist you mean. Now go to your lab and think about what you've done.

If you were a girl, this would turn me on! I would also be making jokes about what I'd like to do to you with my pipette! However, you are not a girl* so nevermind. :pac:

*1. There are no girls on the internet
    2. No, wearing a wig and a skirt will not qualify you!
