    hey gang...

first off let me apologise for the query if it has already been asked, cant seem to find a definite answer anywhere,,

i'm looking to rip my dvds and covert them into avi or divx files for my hard disk player..

i'm not 100% sure on how to do it or what the best available software is (pref free)...

is there one piece of software that will do it all or do i have to de-crypt them on dvd-shrink first..

    sorry again for stupid post..

Locked, please read the charter. No discussion of copyright circumvention allowed. DVD ripping was referred to in the original post.

If you have to process avi files for use in a normal DVD player (as indicated in your second post) convertXtoDVD is about as easy as it gets. Free is unlikely as it requires the software to pay for an MPEG2 licence.
