New fencing club in Cork

Hi, don't really know where to put that but here you go, if an admin thinks it's better placed somewhere else feel free to move it...

We are setting up a new fencing club in Cork, training once a week and accepting beginners. We will actually be running a beginner class coming up to Christmas that all are welcome to join. Limited spots are available (circa 10 people as an absolute max. at present).
I encourage everyone interested to come to the first training of the year on 15th of october where an information meeting will be held about beginner classes, and where you can meet coaches and experienced fencers.
Venue is the Blarney street community centre, a map is available on the website cyranofencing.blogspot.com. Time: from 7 to 9pm.

The format of beginner classes will be an 8 weeks long course, starting on the 22nd of october and finishing on the 10th of December. Protective gear and swords will be provided if needed. Fee is €50 + €5/night if you require to rent the gear. Joining forms will be available on the night.

I would like to stress that the philosophy of the club is to treat fencing as a sport. Whilst coaching techniques and fencing etiquette are inherited from older styles of sword fighting and duelling, we only provide instructions and coaching in the modern olympic weapons of foil, épée and sabre.

If you are interested in older styles of sword fighting (Rapier, small sword etc) I would encourage you to contact other clubs (pm for details)

Should you have any other queries regarding trainings or other aspects of fencing, do not hesitate to contact me. If you are not a beginner, please refer to the website for membership fees, etc.

    Best regards,

    Nicolas
