Hayfever?

Lately (last few months) I've been getting prolonged bouts of sneezing (up to 10 minutes) with watery eyes, sometimes just the itchy watery eyes.

At first I figured it was just hayfever but I'd be getting bouts even during wet days and surely there's no chance of pollen in the air this time of year?

I went away on holiday 3 weeks ago and while I was gone I had none of these problems but as soon as I got home it started again.

Can I still be getting hay fever at this time of year?

Edit: Looking on Irish health.ie they say hayfever starts when your a child and gets better with age. I never had hayfever as a child. This has only started happening over the past year or so.

Hayfever is over at around this time. I haven't gotten anything anymore. It could be an allergy or something but you should go see your doctor.

Not necessarily true. Some people, such as myself, get it, albeit mildly, right into autumn. I'm not sure of the exact cause but there are certain late flowering plants, usually weeds, that can cause it, as well as mould spores which are around more at this time of the year. I also get it quite badly very early in the season, but that's down to tree pollens, mainly silver birch. Luckily I don't get affected during the main summer season, so that's something to be thankful for.

Like someone said it could be hayfever being caused by fungal spores - afaik that runs a bit later, usually until the end of September and would explain why even on wet days you've had the symptoms... however it could also be an allergy - have you started eating anything new or using new detergent/shampoo or anything? If it is really bothering you why not go into a pharmacy and have a word with the pharmacist.

Oh and I got hayfever for the first time ever at 14 so not everyone has it as a child and grows out of it unfortunately
