Noticed a flyer on a club noticeboard yesterday that PGA National have an Open on each Monday from 22/09. I think it showed prices of €60 (could be wrong but it wasn't any more than that), anyone that is interested its a bit of a discount on their Green Fees.

I also noticed that if you were a 'Professional' the open fee was €15 - I've never seen open fees advertised for pro's before

Anyone know if the course sand based? I've seen comment on this board before on its drainage

Think PGA National is one of the best courses in Ireland. Superb greens - interesting layout with Index 1-4 the four par fives!

Love the holes over the water on the front nine - 2nd is a great one, par three third is all carry and the long fourth with a lake in front of the water is difficult!

€60 is not bad for that course.

Played it in its first year when they had a lot of problems with drainage on the fairways but think they sorted it but the rough was quite wet as a result. Haven't been there in a couple of years so hopefully it's been sorted!

Played it in May. Great track, immaculately kept with a top class set-up as regards club-house, facilities etc.

For me, it lacks the character of Druids Glen or K Club, especially on the par 3s, but that could just be because it's newer. And to be fair, if anything, it's only one notch down from the absolute cream of the crop so €60 is a steal.

Great track and well worth checking out for that price. Long lots of sand lots of water. Good test for handy golfer but a tough round for the higher handicappers

Quite simlply the best course in Ireland bar none! How this place is not getting a BIG championship is beond me. For 60 euro it is great value. A must before you die!
