How many shots/pics do you delete ?
ie. what percentage of pictures do you delete due to errors, focusing, no sharpness, awfullness, etc. ???
At a wild guess, I'd say I'd delete 33%, and maybe a few more later on, once I've picked out the ones I think are good enough or can be rescued !

I delete none of camera and depending on what the photos are (paid/not paid)i'll either keep all just in case people come back asking for other pics, but if they are just mine i Try to delete some at a later stage, not a clue of the percentage though :pac:

Depends. I've been lately told that I'm too much of a perfectionist (it's the photos versus snaps debate). Last night I'd wastage of about 60%. Under normal circumstances, wastage is about 15% although I may only use about 30% of the photos I take for whatever reason.

I would only delete the complete write offs and save the rest.
That said, I'm highly critical of my own work and largely ignore the ones I don't like.

Shooting film and getting pictures delivered on CD, I don't delete any :-)
However I use less than 10% of my expensive shots.

I don't really delete any unless there is something technically wrong
with them ie something blocking the lens, camera shake etc.

If I had to guess I would say around 5%.

I always hold onto everything just in case. Its not as if hard drive
space is expensive any more and with key wording its not hard to
    find photos either.

Just the complete write offs. Put i only post publically a tiny fraction of the shots i have taken.

A lot of them are ****, basically.

i have 82GB of photos, if that's any use. all LZW compressed TIFFs.
    6,273 photos at the moment.

I have 72gb of shots at the moment on this computer and every few months I go through my shots and get rid of 40-70% of shots. I don't like to keep shots I that are just ok. Certain shots like the Liffey descent, I'd keep almost all of those, except blurred/out of focus shots.

I delete about 20% immediately and another 30% after viewing on the laptop. But I'm only learning so I might take the same shot trying 5 or 6 different settings.

Another 20% will be deleted when I admit to myself that they're crap.

I'm now down to 30% of my shots of which I'll PP one third.

So that's about one tenth I'm happy with and another 20% I might look at again.

Is that normal? Or am I fukced up? Or useless!

    I

Is that normal? Or am I f'ed up? Or useless!

When I was starting out I'd delete the same if not more :).

Just deleted 1,700 photos in the past two hours. MAN it's tiring!

I only keep the really good ones and delete the rest (usually that's well over 80-90% off them not even getting out the memory card)

probably that's down to the way I shoot in bursts and bracketing
for paid work I keep all raw files, they go to dvd as a backup first and then I decide which ones to process

    Not enough at the moment.

But my new plan (yet another) is to delete at least 70% :D

I delete the really obviously crap ones on-camera, and then when I get them on the PC I would normally delete a few more, but I'd say I keep about 80%, even though most would be rubbish.

i only delete stuff that is beyond repair.........i need to be more picky. i mean will i ever really need that picture of a dog taking a poo?

    Delete?

    How do you delete files?

    Never done it.

I'm a techie, always looking for a reason for bigger hard drives - that's the only reason I keep up with the photography :D
