My Compaq Presario C310EA met with an unfortunate accident involving a tasty bordeaux the other night. Basically, a good half glass was poured all over the thing, and soaked in.

After drying it, and leaving it for a couple of days, it's not looking good. When I press the Power on button, the fans spin for about three seconds while the power LED lights solid. Then the fan stops and the Power LED flashes rapidly. Meanwhile the hard drive LED stays lit solid.

This happens with the battery in, and also without (using AC power).

    Its out of warranty.

So I took it all apart, dried everything, got the last bits of liquid soaked up. Nothing looks obviously fried inside, and there was never any burning smell since the accident. I put it all back together again and I'm still getting the same outcome.

My question is: Is my motherboard fried, or does the fact Im getting flashing LED and an initial fan spin mean it's something else?

    Any help appreciated. Cheers

The only thing you should try drying it with is microfibre or cotton swabs, really. But it sounds gone.

    Howdy,

Motherboard might be fried, if you can send me your Serial number (Generally a CNU / CZC or HUB number) and your product Number e.g PG555EA#ABU.

Sometimes the HP / Compaq Laptops can go into a failsafe mode, if you email or pvt message me the SN and PN i can check on internal systems.

    Ta!
