    Hi there,

I'm was planning on buying a 24inch iMac from apple.ie but I see they are cheaper on dabs.ie. See below:

    €1,599 from apple

    €1427.23 from dabs

The specs look the same to me, am I missing something? With dabs I won't be able to upgrade the harddrive or upgrade to wireless keyboard and mouse but other than that is there any reason to buy from apple?

I got mine from apple refurbs, saved about €500 on the 24inch....you have to keep watchin they don't seem to come up that often...

if you have a vat number you can buy from pcwb.ie

I assume thats the ex. VAT price on pcwb.ie?

If so then the dabs4work is still cheaper at €1,179.93

I will check out the refurb store as well and see what is available.

    thanks

You can't buy exVat off Apple in Cork unless you register as a business.
I suppose they want to be sure you aren't a trader and going to start reselling them.

Just as easy to buy the imac and pay the Vat and then claim it back off the revenue.
It's a significant 21% saving. I did this with an macbook

Just don't be daft and start claiming back VAT on ipods or games.
That's where questions start getting asked

The original prices that I quoted were both inclusive of VAT so I wanted to check is there any disadvantage with buying from dabs.ie instead of apple.ie?

Slower delivery time, but apart from that, no.
I've bought from them before and gotten better prices than from Apple Business (Ireland).

Dabs are UK and they seem to be using real currency exchange rates vs Apple's "magic" exchange rates, IMHO.

I bought my iMac off refurb. Got a 24 inch for the price of a 20inch. No problems with the service and would definitely recommend it.

Apple Sellers are not allowed to advertise prices below the Apple Store prices unless it is Ex Demo, refurb or bundled with something else.

Only thing i can spot on the dabs spec is that it is setup for the UK so it may be importing from the UK and getting a benefit from the exchange rate.

Still looks like a good deal. Word is that there will be no changes to the specs and prices with the new product anouncments on Oct 14th.
