I was thinking why would Canon taint an SLR with a compact style video tag on feature ..... but if its like that , well I have to take it all back.

That is seriously good picture quality. Now my wallet is starting to itch.

That is seriously impressive... Cheers for posting.

Tis impressive, I can see a lot of headscratching about about photographers with 5D MKii 's going to events where somebody else owns the TV/Video rights.

Aye this is the blog I was reading yesterday, it's the 1st time I've ever signed up to a RSS feed, purely for this.

The page asks me to d/l a plug in and I've just d/l Apple Quicktime (which I detest) but it's still asking me for a plug in?

Part of the page uses flash, have you got that installed?

P.S. it is a cool video, but the short itself is way up its own arse

It is a still camera first. It's a DSLR camera with HD video capability...

Well, the decision has been made. Now to get money for the camera, lenses, batteries and memory cards. And another external HDD.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,667 ✭✭✭MartMax

Wow. I'm also impressed with the list of lenses used.

Amazing image quality! Totally unreal... you can also take still pictures while recording a movie ... how cool is that!

    I know that

I meant they should make sure the still camera part is up to scratch before they add video features

Like a phone. Phones today have so much ****e added in [MP3, bluetooth, camera, gps etc] that the phone part is usually crap

But isn't the most important aspect of any camera the glass you use? If they saved 5000 on all the fancy lighting and helicopters and used a kit lens in my back garden then i'd be impressed:) Don't get me wrong, the quality is great, but that's not just because of the camera.

Indeed - I wonder would the D90 perform similarly if given a helicopter, gyroscopic stabilisation and a film crew to work with.

Indeed the same goes for using a hi-def point and shoot - sure there'll be more limitations and probably post processing but backed up by the right team I'm sure they can come up with pretty technically amazing shots too.

I've seen quite a few amateur attempts on the D90 and for the most part they've been pretty boring (as short films go) - but the users are photographers not videographers so there's quite a bit of learning to be made before people start coming out with good video.

Even with the professional piece I wasn't impressed by the lack of story (though it apparently only took 3 days to shoot right?) Creative uses of a t/s lens and great lighting but I'm not certain would the average amateur hobbyist shell out (tens of?) thousands of euro to create "good" artistic video.

And personally I've been terrible at videography - I'll stick to stills thank you very much! :D
