Okay, so this is my first time visiting this forum so I hopes Im in the right place! Basically, I'm looking for some drum and bass artists. I listen to early Pendulum stuff and The Prodigy so any similar artists would be great, or even some you think would be good as well!

Secondly, some electronica! I love Daft Punk, Aphex Twin and all that kind of thing so some new artists would be fantabulous! Thanks!

i have used www.discogs.com for the last two years.it is a cross referrenced website the lists all releases according to artists, labels or albums.its unbelievably HUGE!!between that,www.juno.co.uk and beatport.com thats where i find out most my new tunes, along with some blogs.

if you are new to a genre, as you seem to be to drum n bass, search the album or single by the artist you like or know already on the discogs homepage,( in your case pendulum the link is http://www.discogs.com/artist/Pendulum+(3) ) then find out what label released the tune you are into.generally, labels produce similar quality/style tunes....sometimes not. then , having found some tunes/artists/labels you think you might be into, you can search these on youtube.com or beatport.com to listen, or else google then track name along with "mp3" , sometimes you might find a handy link.

breakbeat kaos is a good drum n bass label to start with
bomb city records are class, really really heavy though
chronic records are cool too http://www.discogs.com/label/Chronic

    concord dawn are pretty good

remarc is a good starting point for "amen" drum n bass.

old tune called "black" by dj SS is savage, its on this page http://www.juno.co.uk/search/?header_search_for=m_4&q=dj+ss+black&x=404&y=17&precision=any&column=all&music=yes&merchandise=yes&genre_id=0000

check out this back catalogue called "skool of hard knocks" the link is https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/20579/skool_of_hard_knocks

and when you have a listen to the clips from skool of hard knocks, click on the label "renegade hardware" listen to some of the other tracks from that label.

funny thing is i dont even dj that much drum n bass, more into techno and dubstep, yet it doesnt take long to find good tunes using the 'ol interweb :D, just a bit of effort and patience

if your lookin or drum and bass , id recomend going for burial ,
and the only genres id say aphex fits into are the two that were based around his music , idm and briandance, ,
if your into the more melodic side of this ,go for autchre , boards of canada or future sounds of london , and if your into more uptempo go for the tuss, cylob or bogdan raczynski.
anything on Warp , Rephlex or planet Mu are mainly all good too.

What I'd nearly do is go on something like Youtube and guage what grips you and what doesn't by going from link to link. Because frankly I'm not sure I would label the Prodigy drum n bass at all. Furthermore, the Aphex Twin covers a huge range of styles, from drill n bass to techno to ambient to just about anything. I love Aphex Twin, for example, and could give you a few pointers but I don't like Daft Punk at all and when you link the two I'm not sure what pointers one could give and whether you want IDM, or some electro house thing as favoured by Daft Punk.

Thanks a mil for the replies guys! About the vaguness: I was only really giving an idea of what I listen to, which is a bit of everything! Sorry about the confusion.

I found DJ Fresh, Sub Focus and a few others from discogs.com. Thanks a million for that one!
