    i know this is a strange question , but what format should a letter to my lecturer take? like, obviously not too informal or whatevr. any help is appreciated

    formal as possible. upmmost respect and politeness will win their hearts and get you that extention ;)

    Depends on what you want. :)

    If a student was all formal to me, I would be a bit surprised. I am a very laid back person, I don't do waffle, so I would not take it too seriously. My point being, it depends on you, the lecturer in question, and the relationship you have with him/her.

    And, of course, what you are looking for.
