Well like I often say, I can't take place / landscape shots. I am a people person and love taking happy moving shots. After a few thousand though there isnt a huge amount of difference especially when I'm constantly taking pics of the kids.

So after seeing so many lovely shots of places etc I decided to take the camera along to the beach with the kiddies and see how I could do.

Be nice, I tried really hard!

    I like number 4 and 5.

Where did you take these as a matter of interest? :)

(The Dirt on the sensor needs to be cloned out in 6)

looks like in and around Dalkey/Killiney along the DART line, really like the one of the boats and the one with the couple walking is nice, is that a hanglider/parachute in the distance?

    Yeah it was Killiney.

Funny thing about the handglider, I was standing at the icecream van with hubbie and the kiddies, being very good and not getting one myself and I let go of 2yr olds hand when I saw the handglider to take a pic. Poor little thing dropped her ice cream and I had to get her another! So this was the only shot I got of him unfortunately.

    I'm a bad mammy.

How come the sensor is only dirty in one pic?

Dirt becomes more obvious the smaller the aperture (Higher f number).

I just forgot to clean one pic thats all. The last time I went to the beach the sensor got dirty. I have to go and buy some cleaners, cabainsail showed me how to clean it before.

#4, 5 and 7 stand out the most for me.

The first 3 dont jump out at me as having anything really interesting in them, just kind of random photos of thing you saw on your day out. Saying that, i can see what you were trying to do in each of them, and the exposure is good and composition etc, just nothing special to look at imo. (they may look better in B+W maybe?)

#4, 5, and 7 all have nice compositions and you made the best out of the overcast day.

#4: i like the mountains in the background as the land curves around the beach, nice composition. (maybe a saturation boost for the greens?)

#5: very good composition, really tells the story. Pity about the overcast skies.

#7: Again very nice composition with the couple in the foreground, the parachute in the midground and then the mountains in the back. Very nice.

#6: Nicely exposed, but again lacking an interesting point of reference imo. Not really anything to focus on. The rocks look quite interesting, but they dont appear as the focal point of the shot, maybe a tighter crop on them? Also as mentioned previously there is dirt on the sensor which should be removed.

Overall a really good spread of images, and a nice set. If you look at them all together it tells the story of your trip to the beach really well. I would say that you can take place/landscape shots, you obviously know what youre doing with the camera, all the shots are well exposed and some nice composition. Keep it up :)

The first one is quite nice.
Don't know what you were after in the 2nd, 3rd & 4th shots.

Think the last one isn't bad either.

I like number 5 - the colours and composition are just really pleasing to my eye.

6 I would consider re-shooting from a slightly lower angle.

    lol at the above...

Number 2, I cant quite put my finher on what I was going for, we all saw the life ring shots, one of those kind of things. I'm not sure about them really, like I said before it's not really my thing so I was pushing myself to see something of interest.

I'm very happy with the comments guys thanks. Next time I'm thinking the botanics and see what I can come up with there.

I like the first one there, its well captured and show character.the last one is well composed i think too.

Would you consider having your copyright signature as a watermark on your photos to make it less conspicuous? Its a little bit distracting when looking at the photos.

Thats new watermark software I'm using, I have to get used to it still, its just a lot easier than the old one as it marks them in batches rather than going one by one. Looking at it now it is a bit strong.
