    Hi,

My father has an old morris oxford which has been up on blocks in our garage for the since it retired from being our family car in 1991. It was in very good condition but naturally sitting idle for so many years has not been good to it.

He is faced with sending the car to be scrapped but would prefer to give it away to someone who might be interested in restoring it or using it for parts.

I can get more details about the car if anyone is interested in saving it from the scrap yard.

I'd be interested in seeing a few pictures if you have any and more information on how good the condition of the car is. My dad's been looking for one of these for a while!
    Where are you based?

Not Interested myself... Lack of space and going back to college but \i'm sure somebody here would take it and some pics would probably help you.

    Good luck with it :)

    Best of luck.

That's a very late registration year for a Morris Oxford (or did they call the Marina that over here?) I thought they finished up production around of those in 1970/1.

You are correct, 73 is very late for a farina Oxford and the Marina was not called Oxford over here. It may be the case that the OP is mistaken about the year. Or else the car may have been driven around for a year or two after purchase before being registered. This used to go on a lot here, 20 years ago a common sight on Irish roads was the registration "FOR REG" ;) Often scrawled with black marker on a piece of cardboard or sometimes just written on a plastic bumper with chalk...

I'd be interested in this for a winter project, so if I could be considered, that would be great.

You're right about the year. I was just talking to my dad and he said that it is a 1970 car. In 1973 he bought in England for £650. The milage is just over 200,000 miles. He replaced the engine about 18 months before he retired the car with an engine which had 60,000 miles on the clock.

I will be home (near Mullingar) in about 2 weeks and we'll roll the car out of the garage for a phot shoot. It is maroon with red leather seats.

    Thanks for all the interest.

^ Probably true given S.I.R has no regard for classic cars whatsoever.

    Hi

It took ages to get around to getting these photos. I have a lot more if anyone needs any more interior or engine detail.

My father has siad that he would prefer to give it to someone who would allow him to come see it when it is finished, whenever that is of course.

    thanks,
    Monica.

There was a vauxhall cresta hearse and a ford zephyr mk4 hearse raced there in the mid 90s alright, saw a good mk2 and a few good mk3 cortinas wrecked there too. Those were the days when no one cared!

It would have been fairly soon after it opened, so i would guess the early to mid 80's. Plenty of these, VW Beetles, Mk2 Cortinas. I remember a beautiful Triumph 2000 Estate getting destroyed in the demolition derby

getting getting wrecked in a demo derby around 1993,yer man just parked up,smashed the windows out and went on the track, lots of guys used to drive the cars to the track on the day and wreck them in the demo derby, loads of cortinas mk2,3,4,and5,escorts,k30 and dx corollas, chevettes, granadas and datsun200Ls,all rare stuff today.
Does anyone have photos of this from back then?
