Just looking for some recommendations for a TV in this range,

Don't really mind whether LCD or PLASMA, would be looking to spend 1500 max

    Want nice deep blacks,

    Any advice?

Would be using it with PS3 XBOX360 and SKY-HD

    Thanks,

TBH, €1500 for a really good 46" FullHD TV is pushing it.
If deep blacks is a feature you want, then Plasma is the way to go.
This model here by Panasonic just comes in under budget:

+1 for the Pioneer Kuro range. I have the 42" Kuro and the picture is excellent. Because the blacks are so deep it makes a massive difference to all the other colours. As a result they are more intense/deep etc. I have my PS3 hooked up to it for the Blu Ray and the occasional gaming session, it looks the business. Totally recommend it if you can afford it.

I think I have settled on the Panasonic 50PZ8,

Anyone know the best place in Dublin to pick one up?

Or should I look at buying one online?

I cant stretch to a Pioneer Kuro but thanks for pointing it out!

The Panny Z85 looks interesting, but I'd say to have a look at the Z81B if you have a satellite dish.

I'm in the market for a new telly too, so am looking at them. Can't justify Pioneer prices either. Speaking of prices, I can't justify paying rip off Ireland prices. Would much rather take a trip up north and save a few hundred euro:

Well known Dublin based retailer price: TH-46PZ85 €2299
Well known Belfast based retailer price:TH-46PZ85 €1,450.81 (at XE.com exchange rate)

    Some difference!

Im confused, what is the difference between the Z85 and Z80 and the Z81?

I have a satelite dish but with Sky HD.

I found the 50Z80 for 1700 in Dublin and am tempted to just go this morning and get it.

But I'm finding it hard to find out the differences between these model numbers,

I know one includes a freesat decoder but im not interested in that.

Holy sh1t! you could buy a high quality 32inch model too with the money you would save!

I went with plasma, generally better black levels, no motion blurring on games, more natural image! I have my samsung 42 inch hooked up to Sky HD and a 360, the picture quality is fantastic. The only issue would be potential screen burn if static images are left on screen too long. As long as you're careful though it ain't a problem!

Its mental, isn't it! I don't know why people buy electronics in the ROI! I'm not going to, especially in the current economic climate!

You can buy a full on separates surround system, blu ray player and the telly up north for pretty much the same price as a telly down here.
