I didn't see his opening speech but I've read the adverse comments.

His closing remarks were fine. He said all the right things.

I missed the closing, was he OK?? Hope they don't destroy him based on this and that's why there was no room for crazy sound bites in defeat...

    Zinger gracious???

I would say Faldo was only okay in defeat, whilst he didn't say anything that could be considered adverse, he was nonetheless, not quite as gracious as he should have been in my opinon, as he kept referring to how close it was. When really it probably would have been more appropraite just to say the better team won overall. Definitely not sour grapes by Faldo, just a tad belittling to the American team.

his opening speech was herendous, i'm glad i missed the closing ceremony. although he did seem to hold himself somewhat together on the course doing the TV interviews.(apart from trying to blame harrington for the defeat/order of singles)
All in all the ryder cup was what i expected, an American victory.....& a relief that Faldo is out of the way as captain, never to be seen again. Bring on Celtic Manor and get Woosie back!!
