I need the gearbox in my 916 to be battered massaged into working order. Anyone have a recommendation for a good Mechanic in Cork who might sort it? Just needs the selector shaft replacing. But I may get the timing belts done while I'm at it.

I don't think there are any 'Official' Ducati mechanics in Cork - the way Ducati operate is by having an official Dealer/Mechanic in any one region and unfortunately the ROI only has one of these......in Dublin (01 4603168). The only other Ducati mechanic I know of on the Island of Ireland is Millsport motorcycles in Ballymoney (the offical dealer in Northern Ireland). I could be wrong but you could check ask on the Irish Ducati Owners Forum (www.ducatiowner.com/M5). They'll point you in the right direction.

not in Cork, but I have seen a 916 on the bench in Y2K motorcycles in Galway. Not sure if he's keen to repeat the experience, though.......

    Tbh, I'd try
    Millsport Motorcycles
    The Mill, Seymour Street
Ballymoney, Northern Ireland , Ballymoney, United Kingdom, BT53 6JR
    Tel.: +44 28 276 67776
    Fax: +44 28 276 67774
    millsport@hotmail.co.uk

Ask for labour rates to do the job - it wouldn't be that big a deal to get the bike up there...........they might even have call to come down here already.

    Ditto on Ducati Dublin.

Outside of that, is the Cork/Swansea ferry still in action? Either way, there's a dealer in Haverfordwest, right near Pembroke - very easy to get to. And, as I've discovered to my cost (DAMHIK...), labour rates in Wales are much, much cheaper than 'main' UK........

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I think one of the lads in Lee Motorcycles has a 916. He might be able to help.

S4r owner here. Dont know of anyone in Cork, Bert (Old Ducati service manager) Is based out in Tallaght. Problem with Duc's is that for some of the stuff you need specialist tools that most places wont have. So best bring it to some one you know works on Duc's and has all the right tools and skills needed.
