except for tickets to irish games i can't deal with ipoker, all the clanging bells! surely they can upgrade their software to something less crappy?

lol,i agree that deleting ipoker altogether would certainly put an end to my constantly getting cut off from the network, but it'd probably be a bit too close to cutting off my nose to spite my face to be honest, although i can't say i'm not tempted!

i don't think its my network,i am on a somewhat dodgy german connection but i've been keeping a full tilt table open in the background (a control table if you will) and that has usually been fine while i'm cut off from ipoker

No Major problems here but I do find my current client disconnects a lot more than previous client.. I've been in contact with them but no solution as yet...

what did solve all my connection problem before was a high gain antenna on my pc.... i literly went from getting disconnected 4 /5 times a day to once a month as soon as i got it

ok that backs up what im starting to think, which is that when the signal gets weak ipoker disconnects even when other stuff is fine. does anyone know if it would make much difference if i replaced the thing that picks up the signal from the router?

i just got the first one i saw in the shop, not sure if there's much difference between them or if theres much they can do if the signal from the router isnt that strong in the first place

this happened to me so often on mobile broadband. Aside from trying to increase signal strength - you're stuck! Try connecting directly to the router with a network cable. If that works then it's the signal strength in the house (from router to PC) and you should look into getting either a new wireless card for your laptop/PC or a new wireless router. If the network cable makes no difference there's not much you can do. the ipoker software is awful

Seen these on special offer in P.C world last weekend! Might be worth a look, their Irish website is still under construction, so no info available on prices, etc.

When you get disconnected from iPoker and everything else seems ok.
Try to a test on your broadband speed with www.myspeed.com or what ever briadbad speed test you get from google. Before spending money and time I would test the broadband speed regularly for a couple of nights. Prove its speed before doing whats so ever. It might be that vodafone are blocking some common ports that iPoker uses so your client has to find different port avaialable on iPoker and not closed on vodafone. Thats only one of the million guesses :)

    I bought 2 of them from elara.ie
Will collect them today or tomorrow.

Will let you know if they are ok. Suppose to be stable.
You can also by linsys wireless repeater and boost the signal. The only downside is that if you have 2 PCs in the wireless network the speed between them will be cut in half as every packet is repeated on the wireless network. Efectivly the speed bacomes half, for Interent it doesn;t matter as the internet speed is very low compared to the local network anyway.

One of the problems with the wireless is ping times. Ipoker may be less forgiving than stars et al. as regards this. I know from playing world of warcraft that my ping times are considerably better with the homeplugs than the wireless.

If wireless signal is low there will be lost packages... if there is another router (from neighbour) that works on the same chanal there will be lost packages too..

maybe check if there are other wireless netowrks close to you and see if they work on the same channel. download a program called NetStumbler (google it) and do a wireless survey. Do the survey when you are very close to your router and then do survey when you are far from it and see if there is another wireless network with the same channel (channels are from 1 to 13)

i've played half a dozen different systems in the last fortnight and only ipoker went down, and it went once an hour about six times. Only military subs and Las Vegas hookers can go down that regularly.

Unrelated, but could I ask - I presume everyone's iP Buddy List is screwed up since the last update? I've searched Boards and 2+2 for a thread about this but can't find one. Noble told me (after a very long and confusing email exchange) that it was a technical problem at their end, but when I couldn't find any threads about it I started to wonder if it was just me?

    Tx.
