pretty much impossible to do what you want.you can get varied results with eqing and other techniques but your better off searching for an accapella or trying to replicate the sounds with a vst

If you can find it somewhere els like on youtube, a video with the lyrics taken out and just the sound you want, you can use audasity, a program which records sounds basically from your sound output, simple to use and free.. Its just an option, if you can hear it on your PC you can record it!

the sound quality on youtube is horrible,so even if you use something like audiohijack the audio you get from it wouldnt be suitable to play out.

Surely you can clean it up a bit, you're going to be mixing it anyway i assume so.. there are ways around it!

if you want to try it fire away, but its not gonna sound like all the rest of your tracks.basically its gonna sound ****.so if thats the effect your looking for go ahead and do it.

64k Mono is NOT good enough to mix with no matter what you do it. No two ways about it. You'll hear echos, clicks, pops - and won't hear huge amounts of the track that have been eaten by the compression!

It is possible to remove vocals..... very easily - the technique is called 'vocal cancellation' and is commonly found used by the kareoke scene... i was using a vocal cancel function about 10 years ago, so i'm very sure there are modern version around!

yeah its something like phase invertion, becuase the vocal is always stright down the middle.
but extracting seperate elements like he asked is very hard to do,but it shouldnt stop you from trying

There are programs that exist. (http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/vremover.htm for example). I generally got a muffled sound from the various freeware programs that I've tried but I'm sure there are better programs out there.

i think the op wanted to remove basslines and leadlines as well so he could use them in his own way
