I was drying my hair this morning and noticed that my hair is thinning on top and the last few mornings after i wash my hair a lot comes out.I suffer from pcos for 4 years now but never knew about this symptom until I read it on internet, I am so worried and I am just with a new boyfriend and he always says he loves my hair what if it gets worse. Just wondering does this happen to anyone else and what do you do?

Thinning of the hair happens to most with PCOS but the hair falling out is not as common.
Like you my hair is gone very thin on top and when I wash it there is always a lot that comes out but I am used to it. The specialist told me to keep my hair short it makes it look thicker and fuller and there is all sorts of treatments out now to thicken your hair.
As for your boyfriend I wouldn't worry if he likes you for you then he is not going to stop over your hair being thin and if for some strange reason he did well then he is not worth it.

PCOS is a common hormonal disorder and you can experience thinning hair because of it. But do you think it's been thinning gradually over the 4 years or only recently? I would go to the doctor to check nothing else is contributing to it - or a trichologist.

Your nature hair cycle might not be helping - that time when we all shred more than usual, I work with a hair awareness campaign every May in Ireland, take a look in http://managethinninghair.ie - it also agrees that its a good idea to keep your hair short for a while, until you show signs of recovery.

I usually use Johnson & Johnsons baby shampoo (never use conditioner) & whilst staying with a relative recently I used their shampoo and couldn't believe how much more I was loosing - so find what’s best for you.

    Hope this helps.
