Postgrad Orientation

    Hi,

am starting a postgrad this Sept in DCU & was just wondering about Orientation, etc. Got the info out in the post from the college & the only thing about Orientation was a leaflet -
Programme of Registration & Orientation for New Undergraduate Students: Mon 22nd Sept - Fri 26th Sept 2008

It's a timetable of where to go for each undergrad programme, nothing about postgrads...

Now I can probably do without a campus tour or a hello from the president, but is there any official introduction or talk for postgrads I should be going to? Or do I just turn up to my first lecture?

Would be nice if they'd thrown on a coffee morning or something (jeez, I'm getting old! :)) But you know, something to get to know other PGs.

& what's the story then with joining Clubs & Socs?

    Cheers for the help lads.

My supervisor sent me an e-mail about it. It's on the 26th September, in HG22 (nursing building) and it looks like it's a day long thing starting at 9. It also says to RSVP to graduate.research at dcu.ie

    Hope that helps

edit: Actually I'll just c&p from the mail:

"Please see attached the schedule for the full-day induction event on 26th September for all new postgraduate research students. All new pgr students who have registered between 1st March and 25th September are invited to attend. The Graduate Research Office have sent out letters of invitation to students who have registered thus far but perhaps you will bring the event to the attention of any new pgr students who come on board over the next couple of weeks"

So you might have to be registered to go? I'm not really sure

    Cheers for the reply!

I'm doing a Taught PG though - I might fire off an e-mail & ask about it though.
