Concerned Boyfriend

Met my girlfriend around three months ago, we’re both twenty and in the same college! She’s perfect in most ways except that she’s got very little friends if any! I’ve introduced her to loads of mine – I’ve a very wide circle through school, sports, socialising etc.

She doesn’t have any, she’s quite content with this fact but I’m not sure if it is a true cause for concern? I mean she says she lost touch with people from secondary school and never really had any close bonds since then! Should I be worried that my girl has no friends?

Well some people are shy and others stick to a very few close friends. But if she's outgoing and has absolutely no friends then yes, its odd.

Not everyone is as outgoing as others. You may have a large social circle, that doesn't make them all true friends. Your Gf maybe the quiet type or she may not yet trust you enough to share her friends with you. Maybe she prefere's her own company. Have you asked her about it?

Are you afraid she's some sort of crazed axe murderer? :D
    Why should you be worried?

If she says she's worried she might or might not be. But really it is up to her to make friends forcing yours on her will get you nowhere. Maybe discuss it with her carefully some more - she may have been hurt by previous friends. Or she may just prefer to be on her own or in smaller groups then you're use to. Everybody's different just because you have and want loads of friends doesn't mean your girlfriend feels the same way.

I'd second what many have said - she may be more introvert and prefer a few close friends to a wide circle. Which is fine.

IMHO when it can become a problem is if she's the type to become clingly/possessive from it. Does she go out with your and your friends and enjoy herself? Is she content hanging at home reading a book or similar while your out? Or does she become passive-aggressive or resentful that you are going out with friends instead of 'spending more time with her' sort of thing? If it's either of the first two (or a combo of em), you're fine. If it's the last one, it's going to become a problem.

Maybe she is content being her own best friend? Having you helps too. Would it be possible that she is happy having very few friends?
