Rutting Reds

    I've been out and about good few days lately and today while on the moors tis morning (7 am) after grouse i seen a few stands but as yet no stags roaring and i'd seen two stags one was good other was 2 or 3 yrs but my question ..Reds are they starting to rut anywhere? as i'd be expecting it to happen very soon?? also does the moon play a part in this ??

    Have heard a few hybrids over the last week up in Wicklow and a few sika, it will be another couple of weeks before they really start.

    went back up the mountain today, just as the day was break'n and heard two different stags reckon its starting here also... hope i meet that big fella again,also seen 3 does (mother and 2 young thats for later)tis my first time having a look at the reds there some size.

    Was talking to a friend who was down in Mayo shooting reds over the weekend and he was saying that he was looking at a 20 point stag that was mad in the rut and that he heard a lot of animals bawling down there.

    ya rut is started shot my very first RED today the buck fever kicked in again guess cos it being my first red but happy days, freezer will be full and all reckoned he aged about 2yrs old but huge compared to any fallow i ever shot.

    i'm unsure but i'm thinking 2/3 weeks most then the Fallow start their Rut.

    thats what i was thinking as the heard ivè been stalking has got very quite since last week i`d say its over
