Is there any private track and field coaches

I am looking for a coach who would be willing to teach a 12 year old hurdles and high jump.

She is a member of a club but due to the nature of these 2 events (taking in and out hurdles and high jump mats) the club can only do these events every once in a while.

She is extremely keen to improve and knows the basis (pb at high jump 1.34) and we can travel to dublin or surrounding areas for coaching

Is this service offered by anyone?

One problem you'll have of course is that hurdles and HJ are very weather-dependent when it comes to technical work. We've had a couple of great HJ sessions the last two Saturdays but the weather was unusually idyllic.

You might find a coach/club that has access to indoor facilities which would be your best bet in the winter months. Otherwise you and your talented young athlete might be as well taking part in other club activities during the winter months before looking to do the more specialist work in the spring.

Most "private" track and field coaches would be doing sessions for GAA, soccer or rugby clubs, where there is finance available.

As far as your young athlete is concerned, I coach juveniles at HJ but will not be doing anything much in that regard until November, in preparation for multi-events. For now I have those I coach working with the other juveniles at cross-country. The strength and stamina it gives them stands them in good stead for the following T&F season. Maybe an odd session if the weather is too bad even for cross-country training ;-)
