    HI all,

I'm checking out hotels or B&Bs near the start and finish area of the DM. ast year I stayed straight across the road from the RDS. BUt their prices have gone way way up.. way up.. Well i was thinking of Parnell street area.. Someone has told me the Christchurch area is in the city centre..
If any one has any recommendations (spelling) about hotels or B&Bs in the city center area.. reasonable priced.. would be much appreciated..

    Thanks

    B;)

The Mespil Hotel is near enough the start/finish (few hundred metres) and is 100 a night (all rooms) I think.

Jurys Inn on Christchurch or the Custom House would be OK.

    €99 / night

For covenience, it would be hard to beat the Mount Clare, Davenport or Alexander hotels. Although I don't know how they would be price wise.

Other hotels within a short walk of the start and finish (about 10 mins) would the the McEniff hotel at the Grand canal birdge (not sure what it is called). Or you could try the Berkely Court or Jurys. I think they are doing good rates since they were bought over by a developer who is just running the hotels while he waits for planning permission (so none of the old prestige and prices attached to them any more).

I booked the Quality Inn on Sir John Rogerson's Quay, not too far away, plus they have a gym so I can ease the muscles in the pool afterwards. Got a deal for €99 for a triple room but that was back in June

    Thanks everyone for suggestions.

IKE.. sounds like you got a good deal there.. Is it walking distance? If not I'd be better paying a bit more and staying nearer rather than wasting it on taxi's and such.. Was going to bring the kids but my wife reminded me I might need a good night sleep before the marathon...

Its walking distance alright (bout a mile 15 mins walk)- although might be a different story after the finish! My wife and kids were going to come up too but not the night before, I've booked for 2 nights so they'll probably head up after

Where is Sir John Rogerson's Quay?

    Thanks

Hello again Sumac! Sir John Rogerson's Quay is at the docks / Dublin bay end of the river (as opposed to the Heuston station end). It's opposite the IFSC and the Point Depot. Used to be lots of derilict buildings but being re-developed with swanky offices, shops & a few hotels.

Not the busiest area at night so some caution needed but lots of apartments there so I'd guess there'd always be someone around. I'd guess it's about a 25min stroll to the start.
