Time Machine and Mobile Me

Last Saturday I heard the click from hell and my MB went down on me, waking only to go into an eternal install mode that never installed. A trip to Bondi diagnosed what I feared, a dead hard drive. Dean (their guy) said it is one of these things that happens and if anything it happens more this time of year and replaced it with a bigger HD for €140 all in, even re-installing 10.5 totally up to date and a reformatting.

Anyway, the moral of the story? I had only installed Leopard a few weeks previously and guess who didn't get himself a HD extension to install Time Machine on? Yup, me :o Thankfully, I had most of my work dates, invoices, pics, mails and fees installed onto Mobile Me (20 gigs safe and off line is worthwhile if you need access 24/4 off site) and much of my files were still on my iMac, but I'll be ripping a load of music for the next few weeks until I catch up. I've resigned myself to losing some iTunes purchases (unless anybody can suggest how I can reload them) but it is something to be thankful for.

And when I finish my whole clean up operation, I know what I will be doing.... Now anybody got a nice clean external HD they can lend me? :D
