Whirlpool warranty

Does anyone here have issues with following up Whirlpool within the terms of their 8-year warranty?

I have an American style fridge/freezer with a faulty digital control unit (auto lock out and defrost intermittently) and have got a deplorable level of phone service, and am still waiting for a representative engineer to call me back a week later.

First phone call wasn't even logged and it appears the girl left. Two more calls after that and still waiting.

Send them a registered letter stating this. Registered letters cannot be ignored so easily as a phone call or email as they leave a clear paper trail as to who is responsible.

Issue has been resolved. It needed a new board. Frtom first call, I was left 8 days before the contracted engineer visit.

The Whirlpool service department lied day-by-day regarding call-out ("he will be calling you"). Really felt that they did not want to honour warranty because of parts cost and felt that since it was a fridge I would seek help elsewhere asap.

We had a problem with our Whirlpool washing machine, 11 months old and it broke down, 5 days waiting for a guy to come out and 6 months later the machine went down again with the same problem. Silly me taught the part was covered for a year but no "it's only a 3 month warranty on replacements parts" so had to pay for the guy to comeback out. We paid good money for the product and with the extended warranty it looked good so when it does finaly give up im buying cheap and just repace the product after 4-5 yrs or a breakdown. I'll probaly save time and effort and peice of mind

But generally, cheaper appliances are more likely to breakdown in the first place.

You pay for warranty. A cheaper appliance may just be a comparable appliance less the warranty cost.

    Not really in many cases.

It'd be hard to say Beko, with dodgy reliability with WM's, to be comparable with a decent mid-range Bosch/Siemens or even Whirlpool. Note I say "mid-range" as bottom of the range with any make is usually poor compared to models higher up the ladder.

In fact, I'm told to avoid entry-level Bosch for same reason (from serviceman who services many appliance brands) - poor reliability. When stuff is made cheaper, sacrifices are made, from using non-repairable drum assemblies to other cheap electronics etc.

The likes of Miele are well regarded, though these are very expensive.

Well, Well, Well, our WM broke down again this time the heater became "dislodged, probablay from a coin" by the way the coin wasnt found!!.
I paid €70 for the guy to come out for a 5 min job, this is the 4th breakdown in 30 months. I rang them to complain about the shoddy parts in the machine, but no joy "please put in writing and we'll look at it". I wouldnt mind but the machine is not over used, I think the next option is the small claims court, if and when it breaks down again.

You should put it in writing, and post it to Whirlpool. Even state taht you'll liase with SCC if you don't get a satifactory outcome.

Andrea B, don't get me started on Whirlpool. We had a WP washing machine and American Style Fridge Freezer both of which broke down within 12 months. Their service is shocking and we will never, ever, ever again buy their crap. They replaced the fridge freezer but after 6 weeks waiting for a service man to get a replacement part for the washing machine and numerous mislogged calls we replaced it with a Bosch unit. An expensive lesson learned.

Small Claims Court and WHIRLPOOL can try explain to the courts that their expensive products that continually fail are fit for purpose !!!

Whirlpool are over priced and serious lacking on quality from my experience.
