I was working in Cavan Equestrian centre today and boy was the main arena dark, all the shots below are at ISO 2500 and AIservo with the 1dmk3 and an 85mm f1.8. I have seen a lot of so called low light samples from different manufacturers but this is real low light, handheld @ 1/500th of a second and dodging Horses for good measure :) feel free to comment

    Hi Keith

Out of curiosity how much difference does Noise Ninja make ?

Is it possible to post the same photos pre NN to see the difference ?

    Thanks

Here they are, the noise ninja just smooths out some of the noise, they are grand in the first place. Just wanted to see the difference it made.

    A bit crooked too :)

You really need to look at the large sizes to see the difference

There is really a difference. I am surprised, because most of the pictures doctored by noise ninja lost a lot of information. But I presume that that is only question of correct settings.
    Well done.

I'm no expert but that Ninja bloke makes the pictures a wee bit brighter as Honda Civic commented on.

Very nice shots Keith. I've used a lot of plugins including Noise Ninja and find NN is very good. But my favourite is Noiseware Professional. It seems to work well for me.

Good shooting - very clear and appropriately sharp. A small amount of burnt out areas. I wonder are they in the raw or have ended up processed in - i'd probably darken a tad in any case (but just a little). Otherwise nice shooting of moving subject in awkward conditions.

All day shot is jpeg, I have to allow for some room at the edge because the printers output is 8x10 so the edges will go.

I think noise ninja makes images look cheap - give me noise any day!

Not too bad today Mart, quiet at the moment. Probably in October the indoor season will kick off in earnest. I started today with the 70-200 f2.8 and around 2pm it was quite cloudy and changed to the 85mm for the rest of the day. Shot around 1000 shots over the weekend and still managed to stop on the way home to take a few nice landscape shots!! :) Living the dream!!
