What do you need this laptop for?

I don't need it for gaming, just general surfing, typing etc.

Maybe for some basic multimedia applications as well.

Any evaluations (good or bad) would be helpful, the price is right.

It's a fairly basic system, hence the price.

And running Vista on 1Gig of RAM won't be the best experience.

Plus, the fax/modem seems a bit bogey - only works up to 53kbps :D

It works out at around €400 (assuming a 17% VAT rate), not including shipping.

    Not worth it, imho.

Even with an ethernet connection? It was available fro 350 from Harvey Normans.

I didn't know a 1GB of ram made Vista run poorly!

What's that got to do with the price of turnips? :) All laptops come with both a wired (ethernet) and wireless (wifi) connection these days.

Why, back in my day, were were happy with an RS-232 port.

The general consensus is that Vista needs 2Gig to run smoothly.
