Does it interest you at all?

Would you watch it? If not, why?

If you do watch it, what is it that attracts you?

I don't play golf but as a snooker player I keep waiting on the other coloured balls :(

Not really - when is it taking place?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

You must get very disappointed in the player when you see the white ball disappear into a hole then!

It's up there with Big Brother as one of the biggest wastes of programming time imho.
    I'd rather watch paint dry

Yes, as much as watching grass grow.

Actually, this answer is much more succinct.

I like watching it in the background in the pub. Don't have Sky Sports at home. It beats that bloody yawnfest known as rugby any day.

Doesn't one have to subscribe to see it? How then is it a waste of programming time?

I sat down and watched a bit of it today. 2 hours later I woke up so I probably wont watch any more of it. My falling asleep was more than likely due to feeling really tired rather than the golf though.

i normally dont watch golf at all, but the ryder cup is completely different. its team play(most of it), and is far more exciting to watch. yes, your gonna say golf is boring no matter what, but im telling you its different to watch this competition, plus beating the americans at anything is worth a look!
to see golfers who normally compete against eachother every competition, help eachother out, supporting each other. it only happens every 2 years and is worth a watch imo.

If it's anything like the Ride-Her Cup we used to hold in Coppers it should make for some pretty entertaining watching.

What??? golf??? Thats a car. :D

I have better things to do with my time than watch people play with cars.

I cannot understand how people can watch it for hours on TV. It boggles the mind. When I was staying with my brother this summer, he watched the US Masters all weekend. It's a bloody boring sport to play, never mind watch!

I don't really like watching or playing golf, but I find the Ryder Cup very good FSR...

Boooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggg. Golf and cricket, two games that shouldn't be allowed on the TV out in the pub.

Bore fest tbh, as is all golf to watch.

I do enjoy playing though, and rallying around on the buggies of course.

I play the odd bit(and I mean very odd bit) of golf, not that big on watching it unless its one of the main competitions. Ryder Cup is definately the best to watch though, matchplay is great format. Really does beat the whole strokeplay thing hands down.

    Eorpach Abu!!!

Can appreciate the game but it's just the 'wearing a jumper on the shoulders' type people that inhabit the sport that makes me cringe.

I just got banned from the Golf Forum because my signature is considered to be "personal abuse".

    Is my sigature offensive??

I'll watch bits of it. It's great to watch in small doses, especially when the irish are kicking ass! But there's no way I could go through an entire day of just staring at the telly (the same goes for any sport I guess).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,005 ✭✭✭✭Toto Wolfcastle

I'll watch any sport but that Padraig Harrington one is so far up his own arse that I can't watch anything he's involved in.

    Now that's wrong. Really wrong.

Padraig is one of the friendliest, caring men in the game of golf.

Every kid gets an autograph - his dedication to charity work (a lot of this goes unseen) and his committment to being a true professional are all evident.

Janeybabe - you do not know him well at all if that's your opinion of him.

Of course I don't know him well! I'm hardly his friend, am I? I just go by what I see, hear and read on tv, radio and in newspapers. The guy loves himself too much.

Anyway, I love watching golf, so in this thread, I think we're on the same side!

No its great I'll be watching it all weekend, In some ways I want Faldo to fail after his Potatoes & Ireland comments he made at some pre start speech, also would like America to win without Tiger Woods that would be a kick in the Teeth for Woods!

Does anybody else find the American commentaters annoying with their constant twittering and saying "what a brilliant golf shot?
What other kind of shot are you supposed to make while playing golf?
