The Weak Clichés

This post is inspired by my good friend StudioRat.

We know each other since we were both recording boys and have watched each other recede and grey.

After all this time we both still love this business called Show but after a few years you discover (or some don't) that most people in it haven't a clue and never will.

Statistically you are one of them! (not saying you ACTUALLY are now!)

So, let's have all the cliches we know and love, here's a few borrowed from another post to get the ball rolling.

"going into the studio next week" " record company interest"

"working on an album at the moment!" and "got a few gigs comin' up"

"We'll fix that in the mix'

    "No, man, that's my style"

    "No, man, that's my sound"

"No, man, that's what the lads in Music Maker said" (as an ex employee I can say that!)

    "No, man, it's in tune"

"No, man, they're ****" referring to local band getting some interest

"No, man, we've everything rehearsed perfect"

    "No, man, they're new strings"

"No, man, I just got the intonation done" (In Musicmaker?)

"No, man, I just did one gig on the heads"

"No, man, we want to put it down live, just like Kings of Leon"

"No, man, we'll be on time"

Variations on real things I've been told:

"But my sisters friends really love our songs and they're kind of people who spend loads on iTunes."

"Why doesn't it sound as good on our home stereo as it did in the studio."

"Man, we sound incredible. You're going to be rich because we're going to bring you all the way with us."

    :p:p:p

I will also be the first to confess to saying and doing alot of stoopid things in my day.

Always a classic! It's the actual sincerity that usually accompanies it that makes it a keeper.

'There's no money in the music business' - Quote from lunatic manager.
*so that's where all the publishing money went...*

'You'll get 100% of the publishing' - Quote from lunatic manager.
*after you create a sub-publishing company and take 50% first*
