    Lads

I got a tele interview coming up with a german company for an automotive electronic job, usual 30 min chat. I suck at these...! how can I come across well and get called over in person.

I believe its with the HR lady as she emailed me the job description.

how does one do well at these interviews...? just talk through your cv and jobs you have had.?, she mentioned my career prospects also.

    ta.!

It's basically the same as a face-to-face. Answer the questions in the same way - i.e. Point to experiences and skills, etc. Take your time, answer the question. If unsure, ask!

The benefit is that you can have job info, company info and your C.V. right in front of you and laid out so that you can see all the pages.

Have a drink of water beside you. Be in a quiet place - preferably somewhere you are relaxed, etc. The waiting is the worst part I found but I was in my room listening to music and prepping. Did my first one recently and was called over for an interview. There's no special secret really, just try to sell yourself as you would in any interview.

Research the company - make sure you know what they do, where their offices are located, any recent news. This will show you're genuinely interested in working for them and give you instant brownie points! Make sure you read the job description and have questions about the role to ask at the end.

Above all be bright, cheerful and enthusiastic. This can make a world of difference on the phone, when voice is all you have to make an impression.

    Good luck!

... and try your best to ignore the echos on the line when they invariably have you on speaker phone! ARGH!

I just had one last week, they're the pits, but I find that having some notes or prompts spread out in front of you can help. Apparently standing up while taking the call makes you sound more awake and confident .....

Hi, I had a telephone interview recently, i printed up some notes on questions i thought might be asked, highlighted in key elements in red on the page so they stood out, it can be hard to find some things when you have pages laid out in front of you.

I passed the interview and was then given some feedback, i was told that in the telephone interview, the interviewer was looking for specific words and answers to certain questions and when i mentioned these words they went towards overall interview score.

I found the interview nerve racking, had a cup of tea a few mins before and relaxed for few mins, spread all of info out on table and stood up throughtout, i didnt want to get too relaxed and slip up. Hopefully some of this might help you, oh and i also had SMILE along the top and bottom of every page, apparently smiling comes across the phone lines :D
