    Hi lads.

Basically my brother has a 24" iMac and I have a 20". - both aluminium.

He has 2 gigs of ram in his, and mine has a gig. I was thinking of upgrading to 2 gigs, and he has been thinking of upgrading to 4 gigs.

Would his 2 gigs work in mine??

    Thanks!

Go to the Apple menu and select:

    About This Mac

    Then select

    More info . . .

This will open the System Profiler, check the Memory panel here and see if the memory types match up. Also in the Hardware Section check the Bus Speed, if they're the same then you should be ok.

Another method is to go to Crucial.com and use their config tool to find memory for each machine. If the part numbers art the same then it's ok to interchange them.
