So, after 7 countries and somewhere over 2000 photos, I want to try and select out my favourites and print some up - so here's where I need some C & C.

Of these two, first of all, which do you feel is the better, what do you think could be done PS wise to improve, and also, why? :) They're both unedited as it stands - waiting until i've made my mind up as to which one to use.

    cheers guys! :)

I like the first one for the contrast, and the blended colours in the sky.

Oh actually, sorry, just realised not completely unedited. I used not like the first one because it had a terrible frame around the edge thanks to the window. Think i'm gonna take it and try and see if it needs any cleaning up or tightening up in PS. Gonna post up another few more later on.

Does anyone know good places to get large prints done?

Just found where i'd put my harddrive, so here are a few more that i'm intending on doing, or choosing between.

I took a bunch of panoramic snaps while I was away as well - Thinking of getting two/three of these printed up, but honestly can't decide which ones I'd like best. These are the last ones i'll put up for a while so I don't keep spamming it with pics, but I'd dearly love lots of C & C on these, to help me think about what needs to be done to them, and which ones would look the best printed.

    Cheers!

What camera, or how did you shoot the panoramic ?

    Great images so far.

Kodak z812IS - basic enough bridge camera. The one wonderful thing is that the panoramic function allows you to take 3 photos. after you take each one (having selected from left or from right) it'll show you the leading edge of the image, and then do some nice stitching. They turn out quite well actually, will most liekly have to do a small bit of touchup at a high zoom, but still nice :)

    Hi,
I like the vertical "Snow over the Remarkables" shot, except for the yellow snow at the bottom!

So I guess the horizontal one with the sun and the person in it would be next. Nice stitching given the sun in one frame!

I think I picked the only non pristine section to take that photo - and started at the top, so only noticed the dirty bit at the end ;) could cut it out - but think a shorter photo won't work quite as well.

I hope you don't mind about me doing this, but I had a very rough and ready go at fixing this. It's just a layer-masked desaturation in photoshop.
An expert could do much better!

+1 for snapfish.ie for large prints - fantastic value, great quality, BUT you can only go glossy / no matte or lustre options.

2 suggestions for canvas print if you want to try something different - updone.com for value with quite good quality. Contact boards user 'stcstc' for something more personalised with attention to the detail - many have recommended him here. Very knowledgeable and precise.

Some nice captures there - on 1 & 2 try add a little more contrast in PP.

    Must have been some trip.

Heheh it was - will take your advise on 1 and 2 and see how it works out - i'm thinking of getting about 6-7 prints total, and want to make them the best they can be, so I think there could be a fair bit of time in the next while going through PS tutorials trying to make the most of em.

Oh, quite funny as well, I remember talking to Fajitas! at a beers a fair while before I went away about cameras, and he suggested getting a second hand SLR instead of a bridge - went with a bridge and can guarantee that it was probably the wrong decision :) while the kodak was great for panorama shots such as above, there were certain shots which having looked at on a proper screen can't be used at all for printing, more often thanks to the camera than my terrible timing ;)

Once I have the cash, I'll be picking up something decent methinks.

Course, I figure out of over 2000, I'm quite happy that I've managed to come out with one from each country we spent some time with that's worth while. Hell, i'm glad that I have even 10 that are worthwhile :D

So for snapfish they do poster shots which would suit what I wanna do with these - if I send in shots that arent standard dimensions what kinda state will I get them in?

    Cheers lads

edit: oh, on top of that - I considered getting canvas prints but I've always noticed that it suits a particular style of photo (For instance, my girlfriend took a number of macro shots that would have been perfect for canvas) however I don't think many of mine suit - opinions?

Double edit: rahtkennades, dont mind at all :) I had a brief attempt at desaturating it so it blended in more earlier on this evening, but I really don't think I know enough about photo manipulation in PS to properly accomplish it at all. Yours looks better than my attempt did :D but i'm still trying to decide whether to cut it out completely (despite the fact I love the powder snow) or just find someway to PS it out. Suggestions can be sent here :P

I love the first pictures, they remind me of the movie Empire of the Sun for some reason...
