    Hey Folks,
Just wondered if say I wanted to just rock up to the Leinster match tonite in RDS with my 70-200 f2.8, what would be the best way to get pitchside for a decent vantage point? Do you need some sort of a press pass? If anyone has any words of advice i'd appreciate it.

    Thanks

    I presume it's a Magners League game?
If so, you need to be accredited by Leinster.
This would normally require you to work for a media organisation.
Application normally closes a few days before game day.

If it's Heineken Cup, you will need to be on the accreditation list with the ERC & then apply individually to the host club, prior to each game.

You should be able to bring your camera with you & sit in the stand.
    What body are you using?
The light will be poor enough.

    Canon 40d

At 200mm, i'd probably be too far away for decent action shots if sat in the stands
It's Magniers League alright, but unfortunately I don't work for any media organisation

    Thanks for the info

I was there two weeks ago and got some great shots with a 80-200mm f/2.8 on my D2X.

You can see a selection here.

I was sat front row in North Stand - free seating. Had to get there 30 minutes before to get front row seat.

Set your camera to Manual: f/2.8, 1/500 (or 1/400) and use auto ISO. Those are the settings I used. Started at 1/500 sec but had to drop to 1/400 later to keep the ISO fairly low (400ish).

    Have fun.

ISO 1600 is fairly good on the 40D, so you should be able to get 1/500

Shot at ISO1000 and 1/640 last weekend. Won't be there tonight as I need to supply Waterford United shots to the papers but will be at the Munster game tomorrow and the Leinster vs Munster game next week.

This was shot at ISO 1600 on a 40D, in the pouring rain.

I guess I was just being far too fussy. Will try again some time with higher ISO.
