Great stuff Ross. This is without doubt the best value & structured schedule around. You have listened to your players and tweeked the schedule and the games accordingly.

Since the whole Blinkers debacle i've played a good bit in this club & I would recommend it to anyone.

Can't make the afternoon game today but I hope to get along to play the IPO sat tomorrow night.

Just one thing, could you explain how you qualify for the bad beat prizes (a Porche & 50" Plasma)? Are they for cash games only or do they also apply to tourney hands?

    :D:D:D

    Hi t,

Not 100% ready to lauch it yet full details next week, It will be a bad beat for cash games only.

It will be a harder than normal criteria due to the value of the prizes.
Its my own Porsche super car, 944 Porsche turbo convertible 1992 and a new 50" plasma T.v bought this week. Nothing extra will be taken from the cash pots, just wanted to spice things up. Where else can you buy in for €50 and leave with a classic 300 Bhp sports car.

Will get full details on boards when I have them including pictures.

Very much appreciate your custom and kind words.

    Thanks ross.

Well done, great atmosphere for a game, free food + beer. Were you there on Wedenesday Ross?

    Hi Ross

Really enjoyed the game on Wenesday.

Just a quick question. Can you just confirm that the 150-300 and the 1500-3000 levels are now included in all your tournaments as the dealers were a bit unclear about this the other night.

    D,

We have added in 150-300 and 800-1500 to every tournament.

I think the 800-1500 makes it a better game than adding 1500-3000

It just makes it a lesser leap.

    what do you think Derek.

I will make sure that all the dealers and T.D's know.

Personally I think the 1500/3000 level is essential as unless your are mega stacked the leap from 1000/2000 to 2000/4000 in one go is too severe and makes the game too crapshooty. If time is not an issue then it's best to have both 800/1500 & 1500/3000 levels in.

The only time the blinds should get this steep so quickly is when you need to end the game quickly but it definitely impacts on gameplay and makes the game more crapshooty.

I allways hate this as it's exactly at this point that the money starts to kick in and you want some gameplay and not to be just in push/fold mode. If you have all the levels early on and then ramp it up late on it kind of defeats the purpose IMO. :D

"new and Improved"....if its new then it cant have been improved, and if its improved then its not new!!

    good luck with dude.

Not opposed to adding 1500-3000 as well.

Want to give the most play possible and avoid the crapshoot

If you're not too restricted by time constraints, adding in a 75-150 level would be a good shout

I personally agree with Tm on this. If you can have both the 800-1500 and 1500-3000 then all the better.

Just a quick example. When we were at the 1000-2000 level the other night there were five or six people left meaning with about 130K in play meaning the average stack was between 22K and 26K. Meaning the average stack had about 11-13 bb's. If this level then jumps to 2000-4000 then the average stack becomes 4-6.5 bb's. Just a leap too far in my opinion.

Just my two cents worth. Thanks for taking the time to listen to feedback

    Derek

    Done.

So from now on we will have 150-300, 800-1500 and 1500-3000 blinds levels in all tournaments at the poker room.

Its important that the better players get the opportunity to use their skills to the maximum.

    Cheers Ross.

Just a reminder Dueces Wild Tournament at the poker room, Tallaght.

€45 to play, 20 minute blinds and 8k starting stack.

Also no limit cash games all night. (Really fun game, sometimes quads are no good.)

    Thanks

While you advertise best value in your tournaments you cash game rake is

Last Friday I sat into the cash game and it went 3 handed with stacks of 35 and 65 and my 120 . After a few minutes I questioned the rake which seemed very very high to be told that it was 80 per hour which included 3 handed.. i decided to leave and the decision was made by one of the dealers to reduce the rake to 1 euro per pot...

and then he offered us an hourly rate of 20 per hour "the same as the fitz he said" I explained very nicely to him that the fitz and other clubs all charge 8 euro per person per hour an dhe insisted I was wrong...

Fair enough....... no more cash for me there....

Can you clarify what your rake should be? and what it was that day?

The wednesday/friday 20+2+5 scalp games sound good. Anyone know how many runners these games generally get?

    Thanks,

    Conan

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 636 ✭✭✭The Poker Room

    Yep, I will clarify.

On the day in question it was peter (pedros) first day in charge as both Ollie and I had other commitments so we couldn't be there on Friday. He obviously is not as well versed as maybe he should be in rake formats in other clubs so sorry about that.

The clubs rake is 5% of the pot. If its 3 handed unless a descion is made by myself to change the rake its still 5% of the pot.

As per usual, people are going to say the Fitz, sports etc is better value at €4 per half hour per player. Which maybe depending on the size of the game you are playing. (if your drinking beer and eating food then we would def be better value)

We don't rake pots under €11.

Our rake is the same as Dust to Dawn in the U.K. They are 5% with a £15 cap.

In saying that, it would be niave to believe we can run a tournament on a Friday at a €300 loss then let you play cash for free. We still need to pay rent, Taxes, Bills, drinks, food and beer that we offer and off course the staff.

I believe we have the best freebies off any other card club and if you qualify for V.I.P status at the cash tables with 120 hours or more we have the very best V.I.P benefits anywhere.

So to answer the question the rake is 5% and we cant do it for less when offering the servisces we offer. We have also recently added a bad beat to the cash table with no additional money getting taken out of the pot.
Hope this helps with your questions and i will have a talk with Pedro.
If this means that you come for the tourney and don't play cash then so be it.

    Thanks Ross.

They are good games. Good starting stacks and even though they are only 15min blinds you get all the levels and plenty of play.

    Very enjoyable.
