Stargate Universe Characters

Found this on gateworld today....

It's the casting call for the new series with descriptions of the characters (Gateworld is usually very reliable I find)

Not very excited about the new series after reading this but always willing to keep an open mind.

I want to cry at the fact that they are purposely looking for a lead character that has a distinct likeness to Jack O'Neill; ref "40's handsome, capable, former SG team leader. Like the Jack O'Neill of ten years ago ..." Why can they not a cast a character based on its own merits - one would think they would have learnt that lesson after Ben Browder (Mitchell).

Jack O'Neill was a character that Richard Dean Anderson owned; magic like that cannot simply be replicated.

I more or less expected that sort of character for the leader. It's the others that upset me. All 20-25 and some described as handsome or beautiful jocks and college kids. Ugh.

I agree with that - all in all, not a good combination. It will be Stargate version of the OC or Laguna Beach or something :pac:

Sounds like a cross between Wormhole Xtreme and Starship Troopers as written by Martin Lloyd. Terrible names and characters. It doesn't inspire confidence.

"Every teenage girl's fantasy" - Seriously, they expect us to hope for the same sort of show and put this out in the casting call? These archetypes don't seem promising and, as pointed out by fans, trying to say that Shanks was in his '20s when the show began doesn't work as he was 28.

Ugh, not good.

Ugh, not good.

Also worth noting that Shanks was in his early thirties before the image change that began happening around season 3/4 when became all buff and sexy anyway

If this was real these people would only be in the military a few years. There isn't a hope in hell someone in the military for a few years would be an integral part of this mission. Also is it not a little weird that there is only one person middle aged in it. He must feel like their dad or a pervert.

I think it was a spoof part of the 200th episode. It's definitely not serious.

I think he hoped the casting sheet was a fake and knew the clip was from '200'. The casting sheet really does sound like something Martin would have dreamt up for "Wormhole X-Treme!: Code 9"...

That bit from 200 was the first thing I thought of when I read the casting discriptions too.

Also, lack of aliens there. I suspect there will have to be at least one outsider. It's sci-fi tradition.

Yup, now that I re-read it that's what it looks like he was referring to. It's been a long day. Agree with you on the casting sheet, it doesn't look promising. At least they are all described as hot so it should beef up the stargate babes thread.
