Ricky Hatton is dead set on facing the winner of Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao, taking place on December 6 in Las Vegas. Hatton fights a few weeks earlier, in Las Vegas, against IBF junior welterweight champ Paulie Malignaggi. Last week, De La Hoya said that he was willing to share the services of trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. with Hatton. In order to do so, Hatton would have to train up in Big Bear, California where De La Hoya is setting up camp.
Mayweather Sr. trained De La Hoya for almost eight-years, but signed a contract to train Hatton for Malignaggi, leaving Oscar without a trainer for the Pacquiao fight. Hatton, sensing a De La Hoya fight could happen in 2009, has turned down the offer to train side by side with Oscar in Big Bear.
"I am not looking past Malignaggi, but I have to have one eye on my next fight after that," said Hatton to The Manchester Evening News. "I know I turned round after Mayweather and said I wouldn't fight above light-welterweight again, but the winner of the Pacquiao vs. De La Hoya fight will be the best pound for pound in the world. I would be a liar if I said I didn't want another go at being tbe best. Floyd says he will train me come what may, which is reassuring, but I can't comment on Oscar's plans."
He says if Pacquiao wins, the fight will be at 140-pounds, but if De La Hoya wins, he would be willing to move up to 147-pounds. De La Hoya vs. Hatton is a strange fight, considering that Oscar is Hatton's promoter and Hatton is using Oscar's trainer, and Oscar advised Hatton earlier in the year, as his promoter, to not take fights at 147.
"If Pacquiao wins we could make the fight at light-welterweight, but if Oscar wins, I would have no fears about moving up to welterweight," said Hatton.

Such a crazy set up. Hatton will do well to get past Mallignaggi. He is getting Hatton at his most vunerable to date. A fight with Manny could definitely happen. If Manny loses im sure he can get a high profile 135-140 fight under his belt and then challenge Hatton again regardless of what Hatton gets up to in the meantime as long as he beats Mallignaggi. Ive a feeling Floyd will be back to take on whoever is the p4p number one.
Hatton-Pac would be very interesting and competitive.

I think the way its going to work is regardless of the result Hattonw will fight Pacquaio, either way i think he would be Ko'd by both fighters,
Manny would destroy hatton, Ricky would know what hit him hes never been in the ring with a fighter as quick and vicious as Pacquiao.
And de la hoya would just knock him out aswell,
Hatton is nowhere near the fighter he used to be,
we all seen that when he fought floyd and he was also very disappointing against lazcano aswell.
The only thing he has going for him is a millions of gullablul supporters who believe he is the best in world!

Hatton vs De la Hoya 6th Round TKO= De la Hoya
Hatton vs Pacquaio 8th Round TKO= Manny Pacquaio

Just seent that Mallignaggi has vacated the IBF belt. Urango and Ngoudjo will now fight for that belt

Fighting for a vacated belt is one thing but the IBF seem to playing pass the parcel with their 140 belt.

Hard to see Pacman causing Oscar too many problems. Surely after a few rounds Oscar's power and natural weight will be too much for a lightweight.
BTW did anyone see Rojas vs Velasquez on Setanta the other night? Rojas is a very exciting boxer.

It wasn't a case of not being the fighter he once was being the reason behind his loss to Mayweather, the reasons he lost that fight are(1) he is out of his depth at Welterweight and (2) Mayweather is the more skillful fighter.
His former trainer had advised him against moving up to 147 as he knew struggled at the weight. So, if Hatton moves up to Weltwerweight to fight DLH it's goodnight after five or six rounds.
I'm not even sure he can beat Malignaggi at this stage. If Malignaggi had a punch i'd definitely be confident of him stopping hatton as his punch resistance does seem to be not what it once was. As it is i think Malignaggi could well beat him on points.

Have to agree with you there mate.
I dont really know why hatton is in the top ten P4P to be honest...
I Mean Cotto was struck out after his loss to Margarito and in my opinon i think Cotto had fought more challenging oppenents then Hatton has.
I really like Ricky Hatton as a person, he seems like a very genuine nice guy,
I would like to see him do well but he is well past his prime and i cant see him beating any worthy oppenents at this stage of his career and as well as that i cant really see Floyd Mayweather Sr doing much for him due to the extreme difference in styles.
Hatton is obsessed with all this "p4p stuff" he wants to fight the best because he knows he has to prove it to alot of people know after the defeat to floyd.

But at the same time i think hatton is looking for the big money now!
He knows he hasnt got much left in him and i think if he hadnt of lost to floyd and he was still undefeated he may of retired.
I think he is looking at it like now as "Well ive lost my undefeated record but i made an immense amount of money, why not go for it again?"
He doesnt strike me as a man who is Money hungry by any means but at the same time he is looking at home stretch and may be looking for one more BIG PAYDAY.

If he beats Mallignaggi then only a pac, mayweather, dlh fight would interest him. Id defo go for Hatton-Pac. The most evenly matched one for him and the best for us as fans.

Oscar De La Hoya vs. Manny Pacquiao is more of a circus than anything else.
    And hatton is another circus.
