Alright lads, I am looking for some recommendations on some books on mechanical engineering.

I am looking for general subject matter, nothing too intense.
Also if anyone knows of any books on valves, pipework etc.

I know what I'm asking is a wide open question but if anyone can recommend books that would be great.

    Thanks

Are you looking for books on the practical side of mechanical engineering or the theory side, calculations etc?
For information on plant and equipment see if you can find "modern marine engineers manual vol 1" its obviously geared towards ships but most of the stuff is similar to what you would encounter on land and covers a wide range of equipment.

Have a browse in a second hand book shop there are often some good engineering books to be found
I'll post the names of a few more books when I remember them!!

Any Machinery's Handbook, gives all pipes and valve standards.. Defo worth while. Look around you can usually pick up a cheap one somewhere they seldom change too much
