    Hi There gafferino,

you need have budget in mind as lots suggestions may not fall within your budget,
Is the surround system to be 5.1 / 2.1 / or bigger ?

    Cheers

All down to budget at the end of the day...

Some of the Yamaha surround amps have connectivity to their own brand Ipod docks that are excellent and allow control of the ipod through the amp - though personally I'm of the opinion that music is 2.1 only and trying to get a surround amp that will double as a stereo amp is a false economy.

My own setup bought about 8 months ago would be deemed a decent budget surround system - Yamaha RXV 761 7.1 amp/reciever (HDMI switching and upscaling to component, £120 stg) and Jamo JA-A102HCS5 speakers (£180stg). Add in the Yamaha ipod dock for £50 off Amazon and your set for £350stg (about €440 not inc delivery).

To spec a serious surround sound system you'd need to give more info re the room size, speaker style etc etc and most importantly budget. The reciever will also be dependant on your TV and how future-proof you want to go.
