Since Sunday I have a runny nose, sore throat and generally feel run down. Cant shake it at all. Its wrecking my head cos I am usually very fit. I know it is the time of year for it but I just want to get rid and back to normal. Meant to be going out for a few drinks on Saturday and the way I feel now I am no more interested. Anybody else feeling under the weather? Sorry for ranting.. Just feeling sorry for myself I guess :o

I have a slightly sore throat and a pain in my back after I hurt it whilst yawning yesterday during work. Apart from that I'm grand.

You're always under the weather since the sky is above you silly!

^ I feel ill for just saying that.

A number of people at work have head colds.

I've been getting extended bouts of sneezing, itchy, watery eyes. It must be hay fever but it happens even when it's raining. I think I'm just allergic to this country.

Have a chesty cough now for about two weeks, now in the last week I have a cold that's made the cough worse. Start a new job soon, hope it's all gone by then.

I'm grand but the boyfriend is suffering at the moment. He managed to get the stomach bug that I had a few weeks ago AND he has something called septic throat. I don't know what the hell it is but it sounds like something radioactive.

I've had a severe case of gallopping knobrot ever since my ill-advised encounter with a stripper, a toob of loob and a ukulele playing midget

Funny you should say that. I've been feeling the same for a bit. Happened after walking for like 20 minutes home in the rain!

2 neurofen plus, hot lemsip in whiskey, hot shower and a good sleep...

Maybe dose yourself up with those broccacocaocoo vit + things. Twould kill cancer that combo (and leaves you with a nice buzz :) )

I took UNIFLU yesterday evening at around 7.30 and had planned to chill out on the sofa and watch a whole nights tv. After about 20 minutes I was zonked out. Ended up falling asleep and only catching the last 2 minutes of the IT Crowd.

Full frontal assault against the f**ker NOW!

    Here's how:

Throat - Glass of hot water, good dash of Cider Vinegar, TINY pinch of Cayenne Pepper. Gargle and spit. Remake every few hours.

Nose - fork out for the fancy tissues that have Aloe Vera or something to protect your nose. Also use Vicks Inhaler to relieve blockage throughout the day.

General stuff - lots of drinks, don't matter so much whether hot or cold. lots of sleep - to hell with TV and knock off early at 2130. Lemsip - every few hours drink one sachet. Vit C tablets 1000mg or stronger if you can get them - one morning, another before bed (don't worry you won't OD). Food - stuff yourself, you'll need it for this fight.

I came down Sun night and he is almost gone now. You should be able to get the above in most supermarkets/chemists. Total cost no more than 20-30E.

Get Floraly's ones from Lidl, fraction of the price for even more per packet (coupla quid, even if, for a 15 pack of ten tissues).

For the throat, gargle salt and water (makes me gag every time but the salt will kill the germs).

    Even cheaper!

I'm not trying to advocate the use of illegal substances or anything but cannabis will cure the symptoms of cold and fever.

I just came out of the tailend of a strong cold. Was dying sick Monday evening and all tuesday. horrible and for once the sun was shining outside.

Saw a documentary some time ago. Avoid sharing drinks with people who have it (I believe such contact as shaking hands too). Vit C appears to quicken the healing process slightly. The rest is up to the body's natural defence mechanisms which should be encouraged. Therefore be wary of using pain killers and lemsips that reduce fevers and lower temperatures as despite offering some short-term relief they prolong the illness. The hot feverish temperatures are all part of the body ridding itself of the infection. I wore a woolly hat and jacket inside all the time despite sweats and high temps. Basically high body temp appears to help kill it

am recovering from my head cold... I would highly recommend lots of sleep. Too little left me run down and obtained me this fair cold. Nice to have a bit of a grumble :)

+1 on the Aloe Vera tissues. Get the Dunnes brand ones and not fancy Kleenex; both as good as each other :D

I've got the exact same thing except for the runny nose, the sore throat and feeling run down, oh and the fact that I feel fantastically fit and healthy at the moment.

Uniflu is a tad strong and unnecessary. regular lemsip OR paracetamol will take down any fever or pain ( do not take both ONE OR THE OTHER) kleenex aloe, loads of fruit juice/water, dissolvable vit c tabs, a hot curry or chilli dish to help burn the toxins and then a warm bed & lots of sleep If you cant sleep stay in the bed wrapped up and rest. For the rest of the winter - take a multi vitamin every day.

Mixing painkillers and alcohol is useless - the alcohol blocks the receptors that would be used by the painkillers.

I've had a chesty cough this morning, only beginning to shake off this two week trauma of a cold now. It's such a biatch.

Yes, I've been really tired and headachy for most of the week.

It's beginning to affect my social life due to my tendancy to get a little antisocial when sleepy.

Caught a cold on 19 June and it lasted until the end of July. Around the middle of August I caught another (combined with a heavy cough) and still haven't shaken it off.

Since we got air conditioning at work a couple of years ago, I get lots of colds.

I am now resigned to having one for the rest of my life.
