Well the first question would be how much do you want to pay? Do you want something portable or are you happy with a set that need to be plugged into the wall.

Cant go wrong with the logitech X-230's.... not sure if argos still sell them but they were like 60 euro when i got mine 3 years ago. They plug in using a 3.5mm jack.

    Right my reccomendations are:

Bose Companion 3 - These are expensive at €249 but if you can stretch to that you'll have a truely stunning set of speakers, and a sub, that will fill any room comfortably with distortion free sound. Ideal with your computer and phone.

Creative Gigaworks T20 - Very nice speakers with good clear sound for €99. They take up little space and while decent lack a little volume. If you could it'd be best to fork out an extra €50 and go for the bigger T40 version.

JBL Spot / JBL Spyro - These go for about a hundred and you get a sub and two satellite speakers. While they are small they pack a decent punch with good sound quality. Design wise they aren't everyones cup of tea.

SonicGear Evo 5 - For just less than €60 these are very good speakers. Audio quality is clear and the volume can be turned up reasonably high without any distortion. Most definetly a solid buy for the price.
