hope this is right topic heading ! so, i got a spreadsheet with multiple codes, about 40 different types in each row, say from a1 to z300, with column "A" having a different name in each cell (down to 300) and coumns A-Z having a different code. however i am trying to workout the most common codes in the range. for example…

hope this is right topic heading !

so, i got a spreadsheet with multiple codes, about 40 different types in each row, say from a1 to z300, with column "A" having a different name in each cell (down to 300) and coumns A-Z having a different code. however i am trying to workout the most common codes in the range. for example xyz appears 100 times, xyy appears 80 time, xxx appears 50 times etc.

any tips would be welcome !

Use a pivottable with the code as the row and a count of appearance as the value
